We have a small garden with an extension to the kitchen being built into it and I remember saying to Eliza the first time I spoke to her that there wasn't 'much wiggle' room - I couldn't have been more wrong. Eliza came up with an original design that took us by surprise but completely works and makes the most of everything our space has to offer. We moved to our house in Bradford in Avon in 2014 and inherited a long narrow garden full of difficult slopes. Previously we had designed our own gardens but this was a challenge too far so we turned to Eliza Gray for help. She produced for us a design which completely met the brief.

First and foremost it completely removes the problem of slopes by clever use of dwarf walling. The garden is laid out with pleasing sinuous curves which take the eye along the full length from the seating area at one end and the summer house at the other, and provides plenty of borders for flowers and shrubs. Her planting plan is working very well in this its first full year, with plenty of colour throughout the spring and summer. Finally, she redesigned a previously very dull front garden to give increased privacy with a beech hedge, a very clever curving path to the front door, and a border of cloud-pruned box.

We approached other designers but found them snooty and off-putting! One seemed more concerned with telling me how expensive it would be to sort out our garden's problems rather than constructively engaging with actually doing so. By contrast, Eliza was pragmatic. easy to work with, understood our requirements quickly and then met them with a truly imaginative design.
